Happy Wednesday followers! It’s been a pretty long day today. I’m ready to be off work and go grub on some delicious Italian food!
I’m posting a picture of a CD that I have been addicted to lately, “Free” by Twin Atlantic (a client of The Syndicate). I recently saw these guys in Orlando and it was just a taste of how excited I am to be seeing them over the summer on Vans Warped Tour. Which band(s) are you most excited to see in the tour?

I arrived to work this morning to hear about the saddening news of Jonny Craig and his future in Dance Gavin Dance. While there are many things being posted about him through multiple sources, to me, it is still some of the saddest news to hear. While I would never support or defend his personal actions and how he has treated people throughout his music career, my opinion of him is very clear.
I was introduced to Emarosa through a friend at a show almost 3 years ago and through my journey with attending their shows, there has never been one time when Jonny or the band he was in at the time be rude to me. In fact during my time on Warped Tour last year, the members of Dance Gavin Dance were very helpful to my friend and I. While it’s no secret that Jonny has a very well established reputation in the scene, it is heartbreaking to hear the news of his struggle for I’m sad that his life has come to this all time low.
In my own personal thoughts, I hate that I will never see him share the stage and perform with Emarosa or Dance Gavin Dance again. It forces me now to hold the memories I have of him performing even closer. I am thankful for that.
Again these are just my thoughts and experiences with Jonny Craig.

May he be safe on his journey through life.

Happy Superbowl Sunday Synners! Time that I celebrate that it is one step closer to baseball season! Woohoo!! Okay Kate, back to music…
Last Monday I took on a campaign for The Kills marketing what was a very different marketing technique used in past SynnerNation campaigns. Before taking on this show, I was not too familiar with The Kills or their music, but I always love taking on shows with artist I am not familiar with, because what other great way to learn about different styles of music. The Kills main marketing tool was promoting a book of a collection of Polaroid pictures taken throughout their tours, something that I have never seen used before by bands. I felt like it was a great way for fans of The Kills to see captured, behind the scenes moments of their tours that they would not normally see. I LOVED that this was something different from the typical flyers, posters, and stickers used to promote bands or artist. Another type of marketing The Kills wanted with our promotions was the collecting of email addresses so that fans can have a way to stay connected to what is going on with The Kills. I was kind of hesitant when seeing this, because I knew that this strategy was going to be hard to accomplish. With social media today, fans are able to gain instant news about the bands in much faster methods such as Facebook and Twitter.
Upon arriving at the venue, I was puzzled to see that the same books I received to promote were on display at the merch table. My first thought was, why was I there to distribute the books if they were on display for everyone to grab? But I didn’t let this stop me from trying to rock the campaign. When you are a Synner, or a street teamer in general, you never know what the circumstances are going to be upon walking into a venue or how successful/unsuccessful a campaign is going to be. You have to learn how to just roll with what you are given.
I have to say that this was one of the hardest campaigns to try to successfully complete. Trying to gather emails like the client specifically wanted was very tough. Many of the fans stated that they were already signed up for the email updates, while others said they were not interested in signing up. While having materials to hand out, it came down to either having the attendees reject the email list or handing out the photo books, so I went with trying to distribute as many photobooks as possible. This was also a challenge like I stated due to the many of the attendees already grabbing or flipping through one while they visited the merch table.
Overall, the campaign was successful in some ways and unsuccessful in others. This is something that is very common when handling certain campaigns. It’s always better to use your judgment so that you make sure the campaign goes as successful as you can possibly make it.
If you haven’t already, definitely check out The Kills. They were AMAZING with such a great performance, that definitely gained them a new fan…ME!

Live from The Social in Orlando, FL finally seeing Twin Atlantic for the first time. If it weren’t for The Syndicate I wouldn’t have been in love with this band as much as I am now. If you missed their tour with We are the Ocean, The Swellers, and You Me at Six check them out at the Vans Warped Tour this summer! Definitely a fave of mine!

If you haven’t yet, definitely check out Hit the Lights new cd, Invicta. They are one of my favorite bands to jam and despite their inactivity for the last 3 years, this album makes up for it! The song featured in the picture, All the Weight is my favorite off the album. If you are a fan of Hit the Lights, expect a different and diverse sound.
Great job guys! Super proud of you all!
